comptrollerlogo2Texas State Comptroller Glenn Hegar released sales tax allocation numbers for October which showed increases in sales tax collections for most Brown County cities.

Cities of Brownwood, Early and Bangs saw increases this month as compared to October of 2015.  Bangs showed a small increase of 0.78%, Brownwood also had a small increase of 2.63% and Early showed the largest increase in tax allocations for the month at 8.04%.  Blanket again saw a decrease at -24.61%.  Bangs and Brownwood continued positive year-to date growth of over 2% while Early and Blanket saw decreased allocations in year-to-date reporting at -5.86% and -21.92% respectively.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $650 million in local sales tax allocations for October, 5.5 percent more than in October 2015.

“The cities of San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano and McKinney saw noticeable increases in sales tax allocations,” Hegar said. “The cities of Houston and Midland saw significant decreases in sales tax allocations.”

These allocations are based on sales made in August by businesses that report tax monthly.
