GoodSamaritainMinistriesLogoOctober is Hunger Awareness Month and Good Samaritan Ministries is once again hosting a community-wide food drive to collect specific items for the Christmas boxes they pack in November and distribute in December.

GSM is assigning certain food items to various groups in the community as follows:

  • Elementary School campuses are collecting green beans
  • Middle and high school campuses are collecting cornbread mix and canned fruit
  • Universities and college campus are collecting cans of pie filling
  • The business community is collecting stuffing mix
  • The hospital and medical community is collecting cake mix and frosting
  • 4-H members, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops are collect cans of sweet potatoes
  • All other clubs and organizations are collecting pumpkin
  • Churches are collecting sweet potatoes and chicken broth

For more information on participating in this food drive, please call 643-2273 or 325-203-2489. A list of items to collect is also available online at www.goodsambwd.org.  This is a great opportunity to see how much can be done as a community everyone comes together with a purpose.
