comptrollerlogo2Texas State Comptroller Glenn Hegar released sales tax allocation numbers for September which showed decreases in sales tax collections for all Brown County cities.

Cities of Brownwood, Early and Bangs showed slight decreases this month as compared to September of 2015.  Bangs showed a very minute drop with -0.86%, Early also had a very slight decrease at -2.84% and Brownwood had a small drop of -7.25% in tax allocations for the month.  Blanket again received the largest decrease at -17.21%.  Despite the decrease in these Brown County cities’ September allocations, the cities of Bangs and Brownwood continued to see positive year-to-date growth.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $629.2 million in local sales tax allocations for September, 1.4 percent less than in September 2015.

“The cities of Houston, Midland, San Antonio and Frisco saw decreases in sales tax allocation,” Hegar said. “The cities of Dallas and Plano saw noticeable increases in sales tax allocations.”

These allocations are based on sales made in July by businesses that report tax monthly.
