Weekly Fishing Report for Area Lakes

fishingBelow are the fishing reports for area lakes, compiled as reported this week by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Lake Brownwood

Water stained; 85–89 degrees; 1.08’ low. Black bass are very good on redbug and watermelon red Shaky Heads with Grande Bass Baby Rattlesnakes, and on topwaters late. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are good on Li’l Fishies and Rat–L–Traps under lights at night. Crappie are fair on white Li’l Fishies and black/chartreuse tube jigs in 10–15 feet. Channel catfish are good on cut bait over baited holes. Yellow catfish are fair on droplines baited with perch in 5–15 feet.

Lake Coleman

Water stained; 86–90 degrees; 1.32’ low. Black bass are good on watermelon topwaters, soft plastics, and Rat–L–Traps. Hybrid striper are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and white tube jigs. Channel catfish are fair on shrimp and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

O.H. Ivie Reservoir

Water stained; 86–90 degrees; 36.11’ low. Black bass are fair to good on Zara Spooks early, midday switching to Carolina rigs, Texas rigs, drop shot rigs and jigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair to good on live bait.

Lake Proctor

Water stained; 85–89 degrees; 0.93’ low. Black bass are fair on chartreuse crankbaits and soft plastics. Striped bass are fair on white striper jigs. White bass are fair on minnows and spoons. Crappie are fair on minnows and pink tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on minnows and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.
