Brown County Child Welfare Board received approval of three new members at a recent meeting of the Brown County Commissioner’s Court.

Board Chair Sherry Clark introduced the newly appointed board members Lynne Teston, Rick Phelps, and Tara Rudloff.   The following brief biographies of each member were read by Clark.  She stated that there are approximately 120 children currently in the foster care program in Brown County.

Lynn Teston is a Bangs, Texas resident and has worked in the Early and Bangs schools as a teacher’s assistant for many years.  She recently retired but continues to do some substitute teaching.  She states that she loves working with children and wants to make a difference by assisting children who have needs.  She has worked with children through church and has volunteered with Good Samaritan Ministries.

Rick Phelps, also from Bangs, is retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service.  HE is currently employed as the news director at KOXE and as a teacher and coach at Victory Life Academy.  Phelps believes that “every child needs a voice.”  Phelps has experience in counseling, media, public speaking, and social media.

Tera Rudloff also resides in Bangs.  She states that she desired to serve on the Brown County Welfare Board so that she can help her community.  Her experience in the mental health field is relevant in working with children who have needs.  She has volunteered for an Alzheimer’s support group and with MHCC of Johnson County.  Rudloff is currently employed with Abilene Behavioral Health as a community liason, with Signet Health with community education/marketing and with Brown County Broadcasting as a disc jockey and on-air personality.
