Funeral services for Oma Mae Merriman, 96, of Brownwood will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 11 2016 at the First Christian Church with burial to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.  Mrs. Merriman passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016.

Oma Mae (Jameson) Merriman was born October 3, 1919 in White Flat, Texas to Robert Lee and Mintie Rose (Barmore) Jameson.  Oma was the acknowledged matriarch of the Merriman family. The grandkids and great grandkids considered her to be the World’s Greatest “Mamaw.”  They also thought she was very cool for getting a computer in her 90s so she could keep up with them through Facebook.  The greatest way Oma showed her love for her family was through her cooking.  She had a large network of friends and was known for her bridge playing and her beautiful voice.  She remained active in bridge clubs up until the age of 95.

To cherish her memory, Oma leaves her children Nick Merriman of Brownwood, Jim Merriman Sr. and wife Karlene of Brownwood, Dan Merriman and wife Jennifer of Boise, Idaho and Janie Leeth and husband Richard of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren Melissa Alread, Melaney Derden, Amy Bush, Elizabeth Gowens, Shawn Leeth, Brett Leeth, Seth Merriman and Sara Merriman; and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Merriman, 10 brothers and sisters and grandson, Jim Merriman Jr.

Online memorials may be made at davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
