Mary Patricia “Pat” Young Cox, 83, of Coleman passed from this life on Sunday, August 7, 2016 in the comfort of her home.

Pat was born December 8, 1932 in Tucson, Arizona to Patrick Thomas Young and Jeanne Matilda Kropp Young.  She grew up in Tucson and graduated from Sanford High School in 1950.  Following graduation, Pat began working for Pacific Bell as a switchboard operator.  Her career with the telephone company would span over 50 years.  She transferred from Pacific Bell to Southwestern Bell in Texas and eventually become the secretary to the chief engineer at AT&T.

On February 12, 1977, Pat married William “Bill” Cox in Garland.  Upon retirement in 1986, Pat and Bill moved to the family property in Coleman County, where Bill’s son Morris built their home where they resided for the past 30 years.  Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Coleman where she sang in the Chancel Choir and taught Sunday School.

Pat is survived by her husband, Bill Cox of Coleman; three step-sons, Morris Cox and wife, Carmen, of Coleman, Rusty Cox and wife, Neva Gae of Weatherford and Dwight Cox and wife, Robyn, of Leander.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and a step-daughter, Olivia Cox Morrow.

A private family service will be held at a later date.  Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be sent to Loaves and Fishes Food Ministry, 201 South Nueces Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.

Condolences for the family may be left at www.livingmemorials.com.
