James W. (J.W.) Gilley, age 89, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. At his request there will be no services and cremation was under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
J.W. was born on February 15, 1927 in Brown County to Hoyt and Eula Richardson Gilley and served in the United States Army during WW II. He worked 36 years for GTE and after retirement, began farming and was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Gilley, son R. Hoyt Gilley, daughters Brenda Chamberlain, Sheila Green and Kathy Lee, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son James Lee Gilley, grandson James Hoyt Gilley,and great grandson Caleb Hodges. He was loved by most and was right with the Lord. Memorial may be made to the Central United Methodist Church.
