RhondaChantayBlankinshipBrown County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the May 15th murder of 25-year-old Chantay Blankinship of North Lake Brownwood.

Evidence linked to the crime, which have not been identified due to the ongoing investigation, are thought to have DNA evidence which may be that of Blankinship or from her killer.   This evidence has been sent to a crime lab for DNA testing and analysis.  Brown County Sheriff George Caldwell stated that although there have been no breaks in the case to report at this time, DNA evidence results may come in early next week.

A reward of up to $5,000 has been offered by the three local owners’ associations in the North Lake Brownwood community.

“We are hoping to get a profile that will lead us to a suspect,” said Caldwell.  “We believe someone knows something.  If they don’t want to talk to law enforcement for some reason, they can contact the Heart of Texas CrimeStoppers.”

Caldwell stated that his agency has been working hard on leads and expect that the DNA results will help firm up the case, but that BCSO needs the public’s help.

“Just because we get a profile, that is not enough,” Caldwell stated.  “We need someone to match it to.”

Those with information are asked to call the Brown County Sheriff’s Office at 325-646-5510 or the Heart Of Texas Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 800-222-tips (8477) or visit www.heartoftexascrimestoppers.org.  Callers remain anonymous and eligible for a cash reward when an arrest is made.

Blankinship was reported missing on May 14th, and her body was found 5 miles from the North Lake Brownwood Community.  Sheriff Caldwell stated early in the investigation that Blankinship was killed by blunt force trauma and that the investigation has shown how she was killed but not who did it.
