The PAWS Project of the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Corrections Center of Brownwood announces that several of their canines are ready for adoption.  Each of these beautiful dogs have completed a course of training which certifies them as an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen and they are now PAWS Graduates ready for adoption. These canines are also spayed/neutered, are current on required shots, are microchipped, and crate trained.

Pictured above are the eleven dogs that are trained and ready for a family.  For more information about any of these canines, please contact Holly Fenton at 325-641-4260 or the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center by calling 325-646-0617.

PAWS, or Pairing Achievement with Service, is a program at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Corrections Center in Brownwood.  The PAWS program helps girls at the center to learn vital skills and how to care for another living creature while at the same time, benefiting the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center by training the dogs and making them in turn more adoptable.  Through the program participants learn responsibility and team work.  Even important vocational skills, such as grooming and caring for animals is learned through the program, which can potentially turn into a job such as dog groomer, dog walker, or even a job as a veterinarian tech.

The PAWS Project thanks their sponsors AgMart, Dr. Joe Speck, DVM, and the Brownwood Women’s Club.

Those who are not able to adopt one of these canines but would like to support the PAWS Project are encouraged mark their calendar for a new festival which will benefit the PAWS Project – Barktoberfest, which is set for October 22, 2016 from 5 p.m. to midnight at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in Brownwood.  For more information about Barktoberfest, please contact Leona Cleveland at 325-203-0261.
