Brownwood Juneteenth Celebration set for Friday and Saturday

juneteenthlogoThe Annual Brownwood Juneteenth Celebration will be held on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18th offering family friendly activities.  The festivities will be held at the Bennie Houston Community Center and Cecil Holman Park in Brownwood.

According to organizers, there will be family fun events such as a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament to be held from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday, June 18th hosted by Richard Griffin Jr.  Participants can win basketball equipment and gear, according to organizers.

In addition, there will be free hot dogs on Friday from 4-6 p.m., fun and games for everyone, along with music by DJ Jason Anderson also known as DJ “J” Bird.  Hamburgers, smoked turkey legs and pork chops, will be sold at the event.

The Bennie Houston Community Center is located at 505 Cordell and the Cecil Holman Park is located at 1100 Hall Street in Brownwood.

Juneteenth is a celebration of life and freedom; of diversity and acceptance; of remembrance and reflection.
