Pecan Valley Kiwanis Club awarded their fifth and final annual scholarship of $1,000 to Sarah Brown of May High School.

Brown was one of five of this year’s annual recipients.

“We try very hard to encourage students from all the high schools in Brown County to submit applications for these scholarships,” explained Kiwanis member Don Holland.  “This year we had a record number of applications, and it is refreshing to see how many truly qualified youngsters there are in our schools.”

He explained that having so many qualified applicants makes it “very difficult to select the students to receive the scholarships, but that is a nice problem to have.”

Pecan Valley Kiwanis thanks the community for supporting each of their fundraisers during the year.  “With that continued support, we will be able to do this again next year,” said Holland.
