Brownwood High School had nine students successfully complete the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program. This is the fourth year for the program at BHS, and the students accomplished a 100% pass rate this year.

Between the required studying and bookwork, students found value in the course that reaches beyond just academics. “CNA had a big impact on me this year. I learned about the value of care, and how important it is to people in need,” said Cassi Hall, one of the nine BHS students that completed the program. “I memorized just about every medical abbreviation you can think of, and I formed friendships with people I didn’t think I would be friends with. I received my CNA certificate, which will be a huge aid to me in the years to come as I continue my path to college.”

Courtney Callaway, another student that completed the certification noted, “I am now able to get a job immediately out of high school and have learned how to care for people more efficiently.”

The program has also helped students carve out a path to continue their education in the field.  “The CNA class has shown me how much I love to help others through the healthcare field,” stated Emma Sharpe. “It has led me to the career pathway I will be pursuing at College Station in August.”

The following BHS students completed the program and certification: Courtney Callaway, Tori Delgado, Asheligh Agan, Makinze Williamson, Danielle Ryan, Iris Dominguez, Karina Garcia, Emma Sharpe, and Cassi Hall.

“This group of students has worked hard all year long and they have learned how to be better health care providers,” said BHS Health Science teacher Annalyn Deen. “The hands-on experience really solidified their love of helping others.”
