Registered voters of Blanket ISD are going back to the polls for a second election for the Blanket ISD School Board.  Early voting is now underway.

This Second Election was prompted because there was a tie between Vicky Godfrey Jenkins and Beth Bowyer in the First Election back on May 7th, according to Brown County Elections Administration officials.  This is not considered a runoff because there were not three contestants in the first election, explained Assistant Elections Administrator Larry Franks.

Franks explained that due to the tie, there was an automatic recount which confirmed the tie.  These candidates were given the options of one of the candidates could drop out; the candidates could have drawn lots, straws, numbers etc.; or as a last resort, there would have to be a Second Election.

Early Voting is underway at the Adams Street Community Center, located at 511 E. Adams Street in Brownwood, Texas 76801.  Early Voting will continue through the following dates:

June 1 thru June 3:  8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

June 6 thru 7:    8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

On Election Day, June 11, 2016, votes may be cast at the Blanket ISD Cafeteria, 901 Avenue H, Blanket, TX 76432 from 7 AM – 7 PM.
