The City of Brownwood is monitoring for possible high water conditions, according to City Manager Emily Crawford who released the following statement.

According to the National Weather Service, Lake Brownwood is expected to crest late Friday at 1428.3 to 1428.8 feet, or 3.5 to 4 feet above spillway.  This level is similar to the recent high water event in April.

City departments are taking pro-active measures, including staging barricades at probable high water locations, monitoring gauges, and collaborating with other agencies.

As updates are available, they will be issued via press releases to the media, City website www.brownwoodtexas.gov, City of Brownwood and Brownwood/Brown County Emergency Management Facebook pages, and Code Red alerts.

Businesses, residences and properties prone to flooding should take precautionary measures.

The public is urged to obey street closures and not go around barricades and to remember “Turn Around, Don’t Drown!”
