WrightCoraCora Lou Lambert Wright, 87, passed away on May 1, 2016, in Bedford, Texas following a short illness. She was born on December 26, 1928, in Brownwood, Texas, to Wilson and Eva Lambert. She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1947. She attended Daniel Baker College and graduated from Howard Payne University with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She married Gene Wright on January 28, 1966, in Hurst, Texas, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary at The Hideout at Lake Brownwood on January 28, 2016.

For 32 years she taught in elementary schools in Coleman, Midland and Hurst, Texas. After retiring in 1985, she and her husband moved to Lake Brownwood where they resided until they recently relocated to the Fort Worth area.

Cora loved gardening, having raised orchids for a number of years. Her passion was handwork—counted crosstitch, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, stained glass, and making jeweled Christmas stocking for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She mostly enjoyed these talents when making them to give to someone else, keeping very few for herself.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Wright of Grapevine, two daughters, Camie Ward of Arkansas, and Robin Alvarado and husband Alex of Colleyville, 4 grandchildren, Neil Ward and wife Emma of Salina, Kansas, Tara Singletary and husband Jayson of Surprise, Arizona, 4 great-grandchildren, Jack and Eden Ward, Jaxon and Sawyer Singletary, one sister, Janice Hixon of Lake Brownwood.

Private graveside services will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 5, at Greenleaf Cemetery and a Memorial service at 2pm at First Baptist Church of Bangs, Texas, with Dr. Pepper Dill officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, at Heartland Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat, 9030 Retreat Road, Brownwood, Texas 76801 or Heart to Heart Hospice, 5608 Malvey Ste. 301, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.

Friends are invited to sign the guest book at: www.heartlandfuneralhome.net. Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
