Preschool registration will be held at BISD Central Office at 2707 Southside from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20.

All children who will be 4 years old and under on or before September 1, 2016, are encouraged to pre-register for Head Start and Early Head Start, or to be placed on a list for Pre-K.

Children who are 4 years old on or before September 1, 2016, but do not qualify for Head Start will be placed on a Pre-K list. Those students, provided they qualify for the program based on guidelines released in June, will be placed in the Pre-K program based on first come/first served basis as space is available. Qualifying 4-year-olds who have been added to this list on April 19 and 20 will be guaranteed a place in the Pre-K program for the 2016-17 school year.

Other dates for Preschool registration are June 21 and 28, as well as July 19 and 20. However, parents are encouraged not to wait for summer registration, as space could be limited in the Pre-K program.

Important documents necessary for Pre-registration are the child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, updated shot record, proof of address (utility bill), proof of income (the previous month’s pay stubs, 2015 tax return with W2, or Child Support Payment Record), and letters of eligibility for government assistance, such as TANF or SSI. Personnel will copy the parent’s driver’s license. Additional documents include, if applicable, Foster care paperwork or current IEP.
