First responders were called to a motor vehicle accident in the 2100 block of San Benito Drive in Brownwood Tuesday evening which involved a pickup striking a home.

The accident occurred just after 6:00 p.m. when a Dodge 1500 pickup truck left the roadway, striking a mailbox and a post of the neighboring home before hitting the residence pictured above.  No injuries were reported at the scene.

The homeowner stated that she and another family member were sitting in the living room when they heard the crash and felt the house shake.  “It nearly gave me a heart attack,” said the homeowner.  “We’ve lived her 50 years and have never been hit.”

A wall of the home and a window were badly damaged due to the collision.  The pickup truck sustained damage to the front driver’s side of the vehicle and passenger side of the bed.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The Brownwood Fire Department and the Brownwood Police Department responded to the scene.

Pictured above and below are photos of the damaged house and pickup.
