BrownCoChildWelfareBoardLogoThe Brown County Child Welfare Board announces that April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness month and will host Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Fair at Heartland Mall on April 30th from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

The fair will feature booths hosted by a variety of non-profit organizations who represent children.  Each booth will offer information and fun activities for children.  Many activities are being planned to make the fair enjoyable as well as educational.

A poster contest is currently underway with participants from all Brown County schools.  The theme for this year’s poster contest is “There’s No Excuse for Child Abuse.”  Monetary prizes and medals will be awarded for different age groups.  A new incentive has been added this year, $100 will be awarded to the teacher who submits the most poster entries.  Posters are being collected at Box N Mail, located at 901 North Fisk, by the deadline of April 22.  CLICK HERE for more information and to visit the Brown County Child Welfare Board’s Facebook page.

During the month of April, Heartland Mall businesses and members of the Brown County Child Welfare Board are selling “Raindrops for the Rainbow Room” for a $1 donation each.  The Rainbow Room is stocked with clothing and other necessities for foster children who are removed from dangerous situations.  The money collected from the Raindrops goes toward purchasing needed items for the Rainbow Room.

The board also asks the public to wear blue each Friday in April to increase awareness of this sad situation of child abuse.
