GouldGeorgeGeorge Gould, 87, of Coleman, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Coleman County Medical Center.  Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating, assisted by Rick Marshall.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

George Gould was born July 22, 1928 in Burkett, Texas to Dewey Gould and Stella Baxter Gould.  He graduated from Centennial High School in 1946.  On May 24, 1947, George married Hettie (Peggy) Cook in Talpa and the celebrated 68 years of marriage.  George was a carpenter and a stock farmer in the Talpa area, member of the Coleman County Farm Bureau, former member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Talpa where we served as a deacon and was a member of First Baptist Church in Coleman, where he also served as a deacon.  George and Peggy have been recognized by the Texas Family Land Heritage Program for the continuous family operation of the same land for at least 100 years.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gould of Coleman; one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Wayne Snider of Coleman; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kristy and Jeff Mitchell of Brownwood and two great grandsons, Tyler and Peyton Mitchell, both of Brownwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home.

The family has suggested memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church Family Life Center Building Fund, P. O. Box 983, Coleman, Texas  76834, Holiday Hill Activity Department, P. O. Box 392, Coleman, Texas  76834 or the donor’s favorite charity.
