Bill Stone

StoneBillFuneral services for Bill Stone, age 79, of May, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00.

Mr. Stone died Friday, March 18, 2016 in Abilene.

Bill was born on September 19, 1936 in Dublin, Texas to C. A. and Stella Mae (Allen) Stone.  He graduated from Monhans High School.  Bill worked for T. U. Electric for 19 years and for Tufco for 17 years in pipeline design and construction.

Bill married Carolyn Woods on August 1, 1958 in Wickett.  They became residents of Lake Brownwood in 1999, moving from Mexia.  Bill was a member of the Cotton Gin Masonic Lodge #154 and May Masonic Lodge #574, where he was Past Master Mason.  He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and the Samaritan Sunday School class.

Bill is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Carolyn; a son Billy Stone, Jr. and wife Dawn of Katy, a daughter, Holly Steel and husband Mark of Wichita Falls; seven grandchildren, Michael Stone, Jessica Stone, Darbie Lowe and husband Dean, Haylie Edwards, Sydnie Ridinger and husband Art, Tyler Steel and wife Natilee, and Lainie Steel; eight great-grandchildren, Waylon Lowe, Talynn Lowe, Trigg Lowe, Kuttar Edwards, Kreid Edwards, Knox Ridinger, Easton Steel, and Stetson Steel; and a sister, Joyce Miller of Temple.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial be made to the Rocky Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 4300 CR 557, Brownwood, 76801 or to the Driscoe and Lillie Woods Scholarship Fund, 3170 Seabreeze Dr, May, TX 76857.
