Emergency responders were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident Sunday night at the 2200 block of Southside Drive in Brownwood.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. when a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling southwest on Parkway Drive and collided with a king cab Chevrolet pickup truck which was traveling south on Southside Drive.

Five teenagers were occupants of the Cherokee, two of which were transported by ambulance to the emergency room for evaluation.  The driver of the vehicle and the other two passengers were taken to the emergency room by a privately owned vehicle.  None of the teens injuries were thought to be life-threatening according to first responders and parents.  The 24-year-old driver of the pickup had minor injuries; however, he was taken to the hospital by police for a blood draw for suspected driving while intoxicated, according to police.

The Cherokee sustained severe front-end damage along with damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.  The truck had damage on the front and back of the driver’s side.  The damaged vehicles are pictured above and below.

Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department, and Lifeguard EMS responded to the scene.
