Orsak of San Angelo Wins Stars of Texas Paint-Off

2016BestOverallOrsakThe 18th annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit opened Saturday, February 7 and continued with annual paint-off competition on Saturday, February 13th at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in Brownwood.

Nine artists participated in this year’s paint-off.  Artists were required to complete their artwork in any two-dimensional media (except for photography) within the six hour period allowed.

Tom Orsak of San Angelo won the $500 Best Overall Painting with his work of a Brownwood street scene (pictured above).  The work of Anthony Brown (pictured below) of Abilene was selected as the $250 Award of Excellence winner.

Big Country Ford Lincoln was the sponsor of this year’s paint-off.

Art lovers of all ages may view the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit February 7-19 at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center located at 600 E. Depot in Brownwood.  Show hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Saturday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Artwork that did not make the Stars of Texas Art Exhibit is featured in the Salon des Refuses at the Art Center located at 215 Fisk Street.
