Additional Funds Received for Brown County Youth Fair Sale, Record Numbers Increase for 2016

BCFA_LogoThe BCFA Finance Committee announces this past weekend’s record premium sale will increase by $35,000, bringing the 64th Annual Youth Fair and premium sale, held in Putter Jarvis’ memory, to an all-time historic record of $422,000 dollars.

Finance committee chairman Gayland Miller stated that the additional funds this year are coming directly from an elite group of donors, called “Championship Club Members.” This group of donors generously allocates $1,000 or more of their donation each year, to ensure that funds are available for bidding as needed by designated finance committee members, and on the donors behalf, to meet floors on exhibitors that may not otherwise achieve the floor amount. Miller said, “Without these funds, we would not be able to have a guaranteed tiered floor price or balanced sale for our nearly 300 qualifying exhibitors each year.”

The Championship Club was initially established in the early 70s, by Mr. Delton Sweatman. In an effort to do just what was described above, serving as the premium sale’s underwriters. Thankfully, Mr. Jarvis was one of the very first to financially commit to supporting the idea and concept. According to Miller, Mr. Sweatman stated that he never had to deal with an excess such as this one, and the Club has served its purpose well each and every year since being established, making for decades of outstanding sales.

Miller went on to say with historic records comes a few unique but wonderful problems to tend to. The committee has approved bringing every exhibitor, up to tier average, that may have fallen short, the night of the premium sale. This will be done, without adjusting or penalizing any exhibitor that received more than the average. This will allow for the addition of the $35,000, and an estimated 186 exhibitors to receive a premium check, for even more than they had initially expected.

Miller’s final comments were, “This is a record sale in every sense, $422,000…. 44% and $129,000 more than last year’s record. Thank you to all the donors that made the Putter Jarvis – 64th Annual Brown County Youth Fair and premium sale, one to be remembered by all.”
