The Brownwood Area GlennHegarChamber of Commerce announced this week that registration for the 2016 Brownwood Area Economic Summit is currently underway. The event will feature Texas State Comptroller Glenn Hegar as the keynote speaker.  The summit will be held on February 4th at Howard Payne University’s  Bullion Suites in the HPU Mabee Center from 7:30 AM to 11 AM.

Elected in November 2014,  Hegar serves as Texas’ treasurer, check writer, tax collector, procurement officer and revenue estimator.  Before becoming Comptroller, he served in the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate, and also served as chair of the Sunset Advisory Commission, which works to eliminate inefficiency in government agencies.

Also speaking at the event will be Guy Andrews, Brownwood Economic Development Corporation; Robert Puls, Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas;  and Gary Twiford, Heartland Association of Realtors.  The speakers will give an in-depth look at the local and state economy regarding sales tax, employment statistics, the real estate market, current trends and more.

The presenting sponsor for the 2016 Brownwood Economic Summit is TexasBank.  Gold sponsors include Coldwell Banker, Mark Campbell & Associates and Prudential Moseley Real Estate. Silver sponsors are Texas State Optical and the Brownwood Economic Development Corporation.

Breakfast will be served from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM, with the program from 8:30 AM  to 11 AM. Cost of the Economic Summit is $15 for Brownwood Chamber members and $25 per person for non-members.

For more information or online registration, go to the Chamber’s Calendar of Events: www.brownwoodchamber.org or call the office at 325.646.9535.
