The 2016 Brown County Youth Fair held last week was dedicated to the memory of longtime supporter O. C. “Putter” Jarvis, and community members and businesses responded by continuing his legacy of generosity by supporting the youth of Brown County at the annual awards and premium sale on Saturday evening.

According to Gayland Miller, BCYF Finance Committee Chairman, this year’s sale generated $387,000.  This amount represents a 32% increase over 2015 sale totals of $293,000.

“Although this was not our largest percentage of growth in one year (38% growth in 2012), this was by far our largest dollar growth to date in one year, $94,000,” explained Miller.

$31,000 was given in the new Putter Jarvis Memorial Scholarships, which was not included the record breaking sale amount.  Considering the scholarship donations, a grand total of $418,000 given to the 288 exhibitors who qualified for the premium sale, said Miller.

Pictured above is Codi Perkins of Zephyr FFA and her Grand Champion market goat, which earned one of the top bids for the year at the premium sale.  She is pictured with buyers, Grooms Feed and Seed (left).
