Glenda Perkins

PerkinsGlendaGlenda Perkins, 74, of Odessa, died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at her residence. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Shawn Lutgen officiating.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Glenda Ann Ray on November 29, 1941 in Coleman to Leonard B. Ray and Laura Elkins Ray.  She grew up in Coleman and Abilene and attended school in Abilene.  On May 25, 1986, she married David Wayne Perkins in Odessa.  Glenda worked for Texas State Optical as an ophthalmologist assistant.  Glenda also enjoyed writing poetry and music and canning fruits and vegetables.  She also knitted scarves and hats.  Glenda was a member of the Church of Christ.

Glenda is survived by her husband, David Perkins of Odessa; one daughter, Danielle Mouche’ Hogan of Odessa, eight brothers and sisters, Betty Brock of Abilene, Jerry Smith of McGregor, Liz Rush of Coleman, Norma Lutgen of Granbury, Danny Ray of Coleman, Debi Ray of Abilene, Bob Ray of Coleman, Diane Hopkins of Houston; six grandchildren, Heather Michelle Morrison-Mikolajczak of Buford, South Carolina, Michael Ray Antle of Bend, Oregon, Monica Sue Johnston of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Kristen Jhenet’ Johnston of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Dillon Anthony Hogan of San Antonio, Daniel Leon Hogan of San Antonio; five great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Logan, Oliva, Kristin, Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Glenda was also preceded in death by a daughter, Simone Jhenet’ Johnston in 1999.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Stevens Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made in honor of Glenda to the Ben Richey Boy’s Ranch, First Baptist Church Family Life Center Building Fund, American Cancer Society or the hospice organization of your choice.
