Jearl “Jake” Harris

Jearl “Jake” Harris, 83, of Early and former Coleman resident, died Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.  Graveside service with Masonic Rites will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Coleman Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Jeanetta Josey.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Jearl “Jake” Harris was born September 1, 1932 in near Trickham in Coleman County to Leon Harris and Argie May Medley Harris.  Jake grew up and attended school in Coleman County.  On August 23, 1951 Jake      married Jimmie Carol Flanagan in Coleman.  She preceded him in death in 1995.  He later married Lorraine Lottman on February 14, 1993 in Boyd.  She preceded him in death in February, 2004.

Jake moved to Orange County, California, moving back to Texas in 1980.  He rode bulls and was a rodeo clown.  He later became an auctioneer and started Harris Auction.  He was a greeter at Walmart in Brownwood, member of the Masonic Lodge in Boyd and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Coleman.  Jake was a very good person and was ready to see his Jesus.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Poling and husband, Jerry, of Bangs, Karyn Harris and husband, Mark, of Early; four step-children, Pat Gloiser of Boyd, Kathy Prater of Boyd, Corky Kelton of Boyd, William Foster of Azle; four brothers and sisters, Oleta Harrell and husband, Ernest, of Graham, Jerry Harris and wife, Kay, of Coleman, Joe Harris and wife, Geneva, of Coleman, Joyce Waskom of Graham; sister-in-law, Joyce Harris of San Angelo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Jake was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Harris.

Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International, Coleman Ballinger Camp, P. O. Box 296, Coleman, Texas  76834.
