Funeral services for F J Malicoat, age 74, of Brownwood, will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 10, 2015 in the Austin Avenue Church of Christ.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.

Mr. Malicoat died Monday, December 7, 2015 in Brownwood.

F J Malicoat was born on June 29, 1941 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Frank James and Vivian Odessie (Boyd) Malicoat.

F J worked for Lone Star Gas for 35 years.  Following retirement from Lone Star Gas, F J went to work for the City of Brownwood as a utility inspector for the next 11 years.  He married Rhonda Wheeler on July 15, 2007 in Brownwood.  FJ was a member the Austin Avenue Church of Christ.

Read MoreF J was a quiet, unpretentious man who deeply loved hid Lord, his family, and his wife.  We were blessed by their Godly marriage and the love they shared for each other as well as family and friends.  Even after 8 years of marriage, they were still fondly referred to as “the newlyweds”.

F J loved carpentry work and always had several projects on his “honey do” list. Another passion was growing and sharing roses, raising at least 20 different varieties. He enjoyed life and was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and willingness to help others.

F J can now say “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”.

F J is survived by his wife, Rhonda of Brownwood, five children, Karina Samniego and husband Rene, James Malicoat, Marsha Nichols and husband Scott, Amy Maleski and husband Paul, and Matt Lindsay and wife Sierra; a brother, Gary Malicoat and wife Sue, a sister, Gloria Turner and husband Keith; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Wanda Wheeler, sister-in-law, Karen Allen and husband Friou and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Helen Turk Malicoat, and a sister, Jessie McInnis.

The family wishes to thank all the medical staff that attended to F J in his recent illness.

The family requests memorials be made to Cherokee Home for Children, PO Box 295, Cherokee, 76832-0295.

Condolences can be offered to the family at heartlandfuneralhome.net.
