RickPhelpsOrganizers announced today that Rick Phelps has been named Grand Marshal for the 2015 Spirit of Christmas Lighted Parade which will take place Thursday, December 3rd at 6:30 PM in Downtown Brownwood.

Phelps is known for his involvement in the community through the Brownwood and Early Chambers of Commerce.  He has also organized the Bangs Mayfest event for several year and served as the chairman of the 2015 Relay for Life.  Rick currently serves as board president for the Salvation Army Service Center and is involved in church and school activities at Victory Life Academy.  Rick also serves on the Bangs City Council as Mayor Pro Tem.   He is currently the news director for KOXE radio.

“Rick is involved in many aspects of the community and has a great spirit for community involvement,” said Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ray Tipton.  “Rick has organized parades this year in Brownwood and Early so we thought it was appropriate that he was recognized for his efforts and willingness to get involved.”

This year’s parade is sponsored by Texas Rock Crusher Railway and will have the theme of  “My favorite Christmas.”  The parade will be broadcast by KTXS-TV- Abilene.

The parade will feature floats, vehicles, walkers, horses, classic cars, marching bands and more.

The Spirit of Christmas Lighted Parade will kick off a weekend of holiday events including the 7th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival on Friday, December, 4th and Saturday, December 5th sponsored by KTXS-TV.  The festival will include Mr. and Mrs. Claus, “snow mountain,” big wheel races and several holiday themed activities.

For more information about the parade or festival, contact the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce at 325-646-9535 or visit BrownwoodChristmas.com.
