LockwoodMarguerite Lockwood was born October 12, 1922 in Hamilton, Alabama to Ruth Berry and C. Linton Smith and passed away at home on November 15, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Harold Lockwood, three children, Margie Marek, Patricia Partain and Fred Lockwood, four grandchildren, Zachary Lockwood, Rebecca Hardy, Lauren Ott, and Peyton Marek, and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 19 at First United Methodist Church in Brownwood, Texas. Memorial gifts may be given to Brownwood Public Library.

Marguerite graduated from Brownwood High School in 1939 and the University of Texas in 1943 where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She served her community as chairman of the Brownwood Hospital Board, president of Junior Twentieth Century Club, a member of the Brownwood Library Board and Brownwood Women’s Club, leader for both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout troop and Girl Scout cookie chairman. Marguerite and Harold served their church, First United Methodist, as greeters for almost 50 years. She would say that her greatest achievement and love was her family. She was a friend to many and was always interested in the lives and well-being of others. Marguerite was an avid Dallas Cowboy’s fan, enjoyed playing bridge, and was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver.

The family extends their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Chris Stephens and the many kind and faithful caregivers who cared for Marguerite.
