Brown County Sheriff’s Office recognized Deputy Valton Posey for 35 years of service at Monday’s meeting of the Brown County Commissioners Court.

Sheriff George Caldwell and Captain Vance Hill presented Posey with a plaque of appreciation marking the 35 year milestone, along with an engraved nameplate for his office, a pin stating 35 years of service and a monogramed garment bag for the many trips he takes when transporting inmates.  Posey is the warrants and transport officer and travels approximately 60,000 miles a year by air and land, according to Hill.

Sheriff Caldwell read aloud to those attending the plaque praising Posey for his commitment and dedication to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Brown County for over 35 years.  Posey has worked through a span of 6 sheriffs, his commitment to serving the community has seen many difficult and rewarding experiences and that Brown County is certainly a safer community because of Deputy Posey’s service, Caldwell read.  Throughout the entirety of his career, Valton has been well liked by his coworkers and citizens.  He has always been viewed as a man of deep seeded integrity, always conscientious and dependable for others.  His wealth of knowledge of the Sheriff’s Office workings is a wealth of resources for the Sheriff and his coworkers, who commend him on his milestone of service to Brown County, 35 years.

Posey stated his appreciation for the recognition and said a few words.

“35 years was never my goal when I started here, but as you can tell, I like my job.  I hope to be here quite a few more years if my health will hold,” said Posey.
