Margaret Frances McQueen, entered into heaven on Sunday, October 18, 2015 in Brownwood, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home with Kathy Monroe officiating. Margaret will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Davis-Morris from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Margaret Francis Seamans was born August 5, 1922 to Homer Guin and Ethel Chamberlain Seamans in Brownwood, Texas. At the age of 8 years, she was run over by a feed truck owned by Brownwood Feed Company. She spent many years in and out of Children’s Hospital in Dallas due to the injury. She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1941. During WWII, Margaret worked in Camp Bowie, the Waco Army Air Base, and the Draft Board in Houston.
Margaret married her childhood sweetheart, Howard Murry McQueen, on September 14, 1946. Howard worked for the Southwestern States Telephone Company which later became part of General Telephone Company, from which he retired. Margaret and Howard raised four sons in a home of 53 years on Southside Drive.
Margaret worked in the Brown County Tax Office, the Sears Catalog department, and the Montgomery Wards Catalog department. She retired from Montgomery Wards in 1989. After retirement, Margaret did volunteer work for Brownwood Regional Hospital, Good Samaritan, Girling Hospice, Meals on Wheels, and the Union Presbyterian Church. Margaret was an Elder at Union Presbyterian and a proud member for over 60 years. Margaret moved into Vicksburg Retirement Center in 2009 and totally enjoyed living there.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ethel Seamans. Husband of 42 years: Howard Murry McQueen. Sisters: Sue Turner, Jean Freeman, and Marie Corbett. Brothers: Billy Homer Seamans and Dale Seamans.
Margaret is survived by: Mike and Claudia McQueen of Lubbock, Pat and Charlotte McQueen of Brownwood, Jimmie and Karen McQueen of Brownwood, and Phillip and Glenna McQueen of San Angelo, 12 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
