BPDpatchSmallBrownwood Police released the following information on Friday night’s fatality motorcycle accident which claimed the life of a local man.

According to Assistant Chief James Fuller, on Friday, October 16, 2015 at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers with the Brownwood Police Department and Brownwood Fire Department responded to the 2300 block of Vine Street regarding a one-vehicle traffic accident.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle involved in the accident.

The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 44-year-old James Matthew Cole.  He was located, unresponsive, in the roadway.  Fire Department personnel and medics with Allegiance Ambulance Service attempted to provide life saving measures to no avail.  Mr. Cole was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bryan Thompson.

Investigation at the scene and statements by witnesses indicate that Mr. Cole was traveling northbound when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a parked and unoccupied pickup truck.  The crash was investigated by the Brownwood Police Department with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

“We ask that you keep the family of all involved in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time,” said Fuller in the release.

Funeral services for Mr. Cole are set for 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Brownwood.  Burial will take place at 11:00 AM in Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
