James Franklin (Jim) Rainey

A private family service for James Franklin (Jim) Rainey, age 78, of Brownwood, Texas was held Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the Greenleaf Cemetery.  He passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 in Brownwood, Texas.

Jim was born on August 22, 1937 in Brownwood, Texas to John and Kathleen Holster Rainey.  Upon graduation from high school he attended Howard Payne University.  During this time, he was called to serve our country in the United States Army.  After serving in Germany and being honorably discharged, Jim returned to Brownwood to finish his education at Howard Payne.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education and taught school in Crystal City, San Saba and at the Brownwood State School.

Survivors include his sisters Marilyn Cullins and husband Steve, Johnleen Hudson and Frances Deen all of Brownwood; a brother-in-law Tom McClanahan of Brownwood and by numerous nieces and nephews.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jack Rainey and one sister Pat McClanahan.
