Zombie5KLogoToday, September 30th, is the last day to register at a discount for the 3rd Annual Zombie 5K Getaway which gets underway at Riverside Park in Brownwood on October 24th from 5-8 PM.  Those registered by the end of the day may enter for just $20 per person.

The Zombie 5K Getaway is the premier Central Texas’ Zombie run, according to organizers, and the public is invited to participate.  All of the proceeds benefit the Brown County United Way.

This zombie run is a 5k fun run where human runners are trying to “survive” the zombies chasing after them. The race will be chip timed by Race Day Event Services. In addition to the zombie runners, there will also be zombie roamers in an assigned area, who are slower, but provide interference for the zombie runners, and may even pick up a few human lives as well.  With both runners and roamers, anyone and everyone can participate.

Human runners, try to avoid the zombies, and get a 3 minute head start over the zombie runners, while challenged with dodging the zombie roamers. Human runners will wear a survival belt with 3 flags on it, with the goal of finishing the race with all the flags.

Zombie runners chase the human runners over the entire course and collect as many flags as possible.

Zombie roamers do not run the course, but hang out in a designated “Zombie Zone” where runners will run by.  Roamers provide interference and also try to grab flags from the humans. Roamers will be limited to a specifically assigned area.

Registration Information:

Each participant will declare as a Human Runner, Zombie Runner, or Zombie Roamer.

Registration Fees:
ON or BEFORE September 30:  $20
October 1 – October 10:  $25
October 11 – October 24 (Race Day):  $30

Register by October 10th to be guaranteed a performance tech t-shirt.

Registration is available online through Race Day Services.  Registration forms are also available at 3M, Anytime Fitness, Heartland Mall or the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.  Please return the completed registration forms and pay at the Brownwood Chamber or mail forms and payment of registration fees to 3M, Attn: United Way Committee at 4501 Hwy 377 South, Brownwood, TX 76801.

Volunteers are welcomed to help with this fundraiser.  There are volunteer positions, we have helping with pictures, helping with water stations, path guide monitor, zombie zone monitor, start / finish line, and helping with snacks and water.

Please contact Sandra Powell, Jennifer Blasingame, Angela Adams, Mike Patek, or Adam Reimnitz at 3M for volunteer opportunities. NJHS students are welcome to come help out and enjoy the fun while earning volunteer hours.
