CareyMikeCharles Michael “Mike” Carey was born October 20, 1949 in Brownwood, Texas to Earvine B. and Sarah Laverne (Redwine) Carey.  He went to school in Brown County.  Mike passed away September 23, 2015 at home surrounded by his family at the age of 65.

In his early years he worked for L & A Machinery and later worked for Roberts & Petty. In 2010 he married Pam Perkins.  They had known each other since the first grade.  Mike and Pam made their home in Ebony, Texas.  Together they raised cattle and spent time working on the ranch.

Mike loved to garden, ride his John Deere Gator, and spending time with family and friends.  He spent many hours sitting on his back porch watching the deer and turkey.  He was a tender hearted, quiet, private man who enjoyed all the simple things in life.  He had a strong love for his family and friends and showed respect to everyone.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife, two brothers Randall Carey and Danny Carey, a daughter Melanie Wingo and husband Thomas, four stepchildren, Tammy Busby and husband James, Joey Mazurek and wife Beth, Shawn Hohertz and wife Renea, Robby Smith and wife Cissy, three grandsons, eleven stepgrandchildren, his mother-in-law Bettie Perkins and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the St. Judes Children Hospital.

Mikes family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net

Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
