Prisoners of War at Camp Bowie Display to Open Sept. 17-19

The Genealogy and Local History Research Library, located at 213 S. Broadway, across from the courthouse, will have a special display about the Prisoners of War at Camp Bowie, Thursday, September 17th through Saturday, September 19th.  This display is part of the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the opening to Camp Bowie in 1945.  The library is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

 

The display will feature photos of the prisoner of war camp, a short video about prisoner of war camps, names of every prisoner of war held at Camp Bowie and the unit they served in, a copy of the government document when the prison was constructed and the operation of the prison of war camp by the U. S. Government.

In addition, a CD disc will be on sale, for $17 that will have over 250 photos of Camp Bowie and a power point presentation on the history of the Camp Bowie.
