OneDayWithGodLogoThe T. R. Havins Unit was selected to host the “One Day with God” camp for inmates and their children to come together for one day.  The day is filled with fun activities and God moments. It is a time of renewing the relationship with a child to a father that has been removed from the home and is soon to return.   These moments together have made a huge difference in the life of many children, and helped the parent to adjust back to a new way of life.

Many prison terms leave families torn apart, serious struggles begin to happen to everyone, especially the children.  Children often feel loneliness when their mom or dad is in prison and experience many emotions that they are often left alone to deal with, as the parent or guardian at home begins the busy care of many other needs.  Many families do not talk about the parent absent due to incarceration with the children.

Those interested in being a part of this ministry are encouraged to contact Gayland Gowdy (325 643 2427) or Ima Martin (325 642 6670) by September 7th for an application.  There are many volunteer positions available, such as becoming a part of the team inside the prison or at the church for the caregivers events that day.

Donations are also appreciated to help cover the expenses needed to bring the ministry team, Forgiven Ministry, Inc. to the camp from North Carolina.  Donations will also be used for needed supplies for crafts, food, pictures, etc.   The estimated cost per child is about $170.00 so any size donations are appreciated and help to make this event possible.  Forgiven Ministry, Inc. is a 501C3 nonprofit ministry, which makes all donations tax deductible.
