Brownwood Fire Department – Fire & Rescue Reports 9/2

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the period of August 24-30, 2015 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 23 medical emergencies, 6 fire calls, 1 lock-in call and 3 motor vehicle accident.

Reports of interest that the Brownwood Fire Department responded to include:

Monday, August 24

*11:42 AM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a lock-in in the 500 block of W. Commerce.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find children locked in a running vehicle.  Firefighters gained entry into the vehicle and returned children to their parents with no injuries.

*3:57 PM – Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to a fire call in the 5100 block of Heeler Lane.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a grass fire spreading quickly.  Lake Bridge, Bangs, Brookesmith, and Early Volunteer Fire Departments were on scene to assist with the extinguishment of a 20 acre grass fire.

Tuesday, August 25

*9:11 AM – Brownwood Fire Department was called to a fire in the 1000 block of Riverside Drive, at Riverside Park.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find an asphalt machine on fire.  Firefighters quickly began to extinguish the fire and a propane tank was removed from the machine.  The Fire Marshal investigated the incident.

*6:27 PM – Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to a fire call in the 1000 block of La Monte Drive.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find nothing showing.  Firefighters investigated and found an electrical outlet which had shorted out.  The breakers were turned off to the house and a thermal camera was used to check for exposure.

Wednesday, August 26

*5:57 AM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a single vehicle accident with no injuries on Hwy 377 South.  The accident involved a vehicle striking a power pole and a fence.

*11:25 PM – Brownwood Fire Department was called to a fire at 1050 W. Commerce, the Law Enforcement Center.  Firefighters were dispatched to investigate the smell of smoke and a floor fan was found with a burned up motor.

Thursday, August 27

*5:36 PM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident at Baker and Main Streets.  The suspect vehicle had left the scene.

Saturday, August 29

*8:02 PM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident with injuries at FM 2126 and US Hwy 183.  BFD was requested by Early VFD to assist with injuries.

Sunday, August 30

*6:09 PM – Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to a fire call in the 2100 block of 12th Street.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find nothing showing.  Fire crews investigated with a thermal camera but nothing was found.

*9:47 PM – Brownwood Fire Department was called to a fire in the 2400 block of 13th Street.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find a patio fan arcing.  The breaker was turned off to the fan.
