Brown County Officials Set Public Hearings for Proposed Tax Rate and Budget

Brown County Commissioners are preparing to adopt the FY 2015-2016 Brown County budget and tax rates.

At Monday’s meeting of the court, commissioners approved publication of the proposed FY 2015-2016 budget, which will soon be available for viewing at http://www.browncountytx.org under the tab financial transparency.

A tax rate of $0.5955/$100 evaluation was proposed by commissioners and will be discussed during public hearings to be held during regular meetings of the Brown County Commissioners Court at 9 AM on September 10 and September 14, 2015.  This rate consists of general fund $0.4643, debt service $0.0503, and road and flood $0.0809.

This proposed rate is $0.0211/$100 evaluation higher than the current 2014 rate of $0.5744/$100 evaluation.

In other matters on Monday’s agenda:

*Commissioners approved the purchase of two ballistic vests for Brown County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies.

*Commissioners approved Sheriff’s and Constables’ fees for 2016.

*County Clerk Sharon Ferguson received approval for the hiring of a replacement employee.

*Commissioners approved a plat of the Charles Smith Estate.

*Commissioner Wayne Shaw, Pct. 3, received approval for installation of a private line on County Road 367.
