Basic Law Enforcement Training to be Offered in Brownwood

The West Central Texas Council of Governments is accepting applications for Basic Peace Officer Course which will be taught in Brownwood.

This 700-hour course begins November 16, 2015 and continues for approximately 30 weeks.  Classes are held from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. M-F and 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on most Saturdays.  Tuition for this course is $2400. Application deadline is September 11, 2015.

Entry requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.  Sponsored by a law enforcement agency

2.  Attained 20th birthday before the first day of class

3.  Is a U.S. citizen

4.  High School Diploma or G.E.D.

5.  No felony convictions

6.  No convictions of any class involving family violence

7.  Must not be prohibited from possessing ammunition or firearm by state or federal law

8.  Must not be prohibited by state or federal law from operating a motor vehicle

9.  No convictions above the grade of Class C misdemeanor within the past 10 years

10.  Has not had a dishonorable or bad conduct discharge from the military

11.  Pass physical examination

12.  Pass psychological examination

13.  Pass reading comprehension examination

This academy qualifies for G.I. Bill benefits and the Texas Workforce benefits.  Please call (325)672-1197 for application information or questions.
