Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees Adopt 2015-2016 Budget & Lower Tax Rate

bisdlogo3The Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees approved the new 2015-2016 budget and a lower tax rate among other action items during a meeting Wednesday, August 26th.

Board members gathered at 7:50 a.m. in the Dr. Don Martin Executive Board Room in the Brownwood ISD Administration building to consider approval of action items that included various budget amendments, the 2015-2016 district budget, tax rate for maintenance and operations, tax rate for interest and sinking, and a final amended general fund, food service, and debt service budget by fund and function for the 2014-2015 school year.

All items on the agenda were unanimously approved including an interest and sinking tax rate of $0.1751, which is $.0396 lower than last year. The maintenance and operations tax rate, which has not increased since 2007, will remain the same at $1.04.

Also approved was the 2015-2016 general fund budget in the amount of $27,140,816, the school nutrition fund budget in the amount of $1,858,179, and the debt service fund budget in the amount of $2,309,875.
