CJGrishamThe Pecan Valley Republican Women’s Club will host their monthly luncheon and meeting on Thursday August 27, 11:30 a.m. at the Brownwood Country Club.  The public is encouraged to attend.  The luncheon offers a chance to get familiar with one of the candidates running for state senator.  PVRW encourage voters to get to know candidates running for office, be informed and share with family and friends.  Attendees can enjoy eating before the meeting which will begin at noon and end around 12:50 p.m. allowing for everyone to return to work.

Guest speaker C. J. Grisham is one of the candidates running for State Senate District 24, the position which has been held by Senator Troy Fraser since his election in 1997.  Senator Fraser is retiring and has announced he will not be running for another term.  C. J. was President of Open Carry Texas and received national acclaim, including being named one of the five finalist for 2014 Texan of the Year by the Dallas Morning News, the NRA’s 2013 Defender of Freedom Award, and the NRA’s 2014 Outstanding Leadership Award.  C.J., a Decorated Combat Veteran and committed Christian, grew up spending summers on his grandfather’s Bell County farm where he and his wife Emily and three children currently live.

District 24 comprises the following counties: Bandera, Bell, Blanco, Brown, Burnet, Callahan, Comanche, Coryell, Gillespie, Hamilton, Kerr, Lampasas, Llano, Mills, San Saba and parts of Taylor and Travis Counties.   Key cities in the district include Abilene, Brownwood, Belton, Fredericksburg, Killeen, Kerrville, Marble Falls, and Temple. It also contains two major military installations, Fort Hood near Killeen and Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene.  The Pecan Valley Republican Women and the Brown County Republican Women clubs are working together to give all the candidates running for this office an opportunity to speak at one of their monthly luncheon meetings before the primary elections.

Officials of the Pecan Valley Republican Women encourage those planning to attend to please R.S.V.P. by texting or calling 325-998-3880 no later than Wednesday morning, August 26th.  Thirty or more R.S.V.P. guest are required to enjoy the Brownwood Country Club’s buffet at 11:30 a.m. for $14.
