Helen Louise Strawn Mask

MaskHelenHelen Louise Strawn Mask was born in Grosvenor, Texas on November 30, 1925 to William Ray Strawn and Flora Zell Moore Strawn.  She passed from this life on August 1, 2015 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 89 years.  Helen was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Harold Paul Mask; her brother, Merle Ray Strawn; and her son-in-law, Clifton Connor Wilkins.

Helen graduated from Bangs High School in 1942 and began working at Camp Bowie in Brownwood as a payroll clerk in civil service.  In 1946 she began dating Harold Mask and the two were married on September 28, 1946 for 57 years until his death in the spring of 2003.  They raised their three daughters in Brownwood and then moved to Garland, Texas in 1974 to be closer to Harold’s job where they lived for twelve years.  At that time they retired and moved to Early.  In 1996 they moved to New Braunfels, Texas to be closer to family.

Helen is survived by her three daughters, Paula Gaye Livingston of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Cindy Louise Wilkins and Robin Hollye Cunningham (Jim) of New Braunfels, Texas.  She was blessed with seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.  She was a lifelong Baptist and a member of Grosvenor Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Grosvenor, Texas on Friday, August 7 at 11:00 a.m. Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood is in charge of the arrangements.  Memorials may be sent to Fairview Cemetery Association.
