A ribbon cutting was held Monday, July 20th by Keep Brownwood Beautiful to celebrate the City of Brownwood’s new recycling equipment.  The event took place at the entrance of the landfill at the City of Brownwood’s Recycling Center located at 6800 FM 45.

KBB officials wanted to hold the ribbon cutting to celebrate and thank the Brownwood Mayor and City Council for supporting recycling within Brownwood.

“We had a great time and are so thrilled that the city purchased these machines,” said KBB organizer Cary Perrin.  “The glass pulverizer turns glass bottles and jars into sand and the new baler for plastic, cardboard and paper gets the job done three times faster.”

Keep Brownwood Beautiful is a community organization focused on beautification of the city of Brownwood through maintaining several green spaces on city property with plantings, mowing, weeding and sprinkler systems.  KBB also organizes periodic clean ups at lakes, rivers, and creeks and promotes environmental responsibility and education through their recycling programs.

Pictured above in front of the new baler machine are are Jennifer Fris (recycling coordinator), Mike Gray (recycling center), Daniel Graham (Brownwood Area Community Garden), Craig Seger (KBB president), Steve Puckett (KBB treasurer), Pete the Recycling Panda (Brandon Jones),  Emily Crawford (Brownwood City Manager), Steve (a recycler), and Wendy Allen (WCTCOG).
