TexasDPS_logoTexas Department of Public Safety reports that a pedestrian was killed after being struck by vehicle just outside of Bangs on Saturday night.

The accident occurred at 9:38 p.m. on US Hwy 67, 1/8 mile west of Bangs, in a 70 mph speed zone.  According to a DPS report, the pedestrian, identified as Suzanne Michele Franklin, 40 of Bangs, was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Jim Cavanaugh.  The body was taken to Brownwood Funeral Home.

According to the report, the vehicle, a 2013 Chevy passenger car, was traveling westbound on US 67 where the driver reported seeing an unknown object on the shoulder of the road.  After looking away briefly, the driver turned and saw a pedestrian standing in the middle of the lane.  The driver was unable to avoid striking the individual.  No other information was available.

The driver, a female from Abilene, was in stable condition and was transported to the hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.  She was reported to have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
