SuperHerosVisitStepByStepDaycare2015The children and staff at Step by Step Daycare in Bangs were excited on Friday, June 26th when two superheroes showed up at their center at the end of the day. Batman and Spiderman were there representing Family Services Center to say hello to the children and let their parents know about FSC’s free parenting program. The children were given bubbles and the parents were given brochures about parenting classes.

Cindy Webb, director of Step by Step Daycare said, “Parents did have a heads-up that the superheroes were coming so they could dress their children in superhero style and have their cameras ready. The children loved the special visit.”

Family Services teaches techniques to give parents more ideas and more confidence in dealing with their children in stressful situations. They use a program called Parenting Wisely, and many parents who have finished the program have said every parent would benefit from the class. The classes are held in many different locations because FSC serves nine counties, including Brown, Callahan, Comanche, Coleman, Eastland, Mills, McCulloch, Runnels, and San Saba. Parent educator Judy Bullard said, “We go where we can get a group of at least four together and teach them how to actively communicate with their children, set consequences, and use encouragement and praise.”

For more information about the free parenting classes, call Family Services in Brownwood at 325-646-5939 or visit their website at www.familysc.net. FSC is a non-profit organization funded in part by Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Brown County United Way, area foundations, local organizations, and individual donations.
