Weekly Fishing Report for Area Lakes

fishingBelow are the fishing reports for area lakes, compiled as reported this week by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Lake Brownwood

Water murky; 78–82 degrees; 0.41′ low. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are good on Pop–R’s and crankbaits in 12–16 feet, and on minnows and jigs under lights at night. Crappie are good on minnows and white or shad Li’l Fishies in 9–12 feet. Channel catfish to 5 pounds are good on trotlines and juglines baited with cheesebait and cut shad in the river mouths. Yellow catfish to 10 pounds are good on trotlines baited with cut perch and shad in 8–12 feet.

Lake Coleman

Water murky; 71–75 degrees; 9.41′ low. Black bass are good on watermelon Rat–L–Traps and spinnerbaits. Hybrid striper are good on live shad near the park. Crappie are good on minnows at night. Channel catfish are good on trotlines baited with live perch. Yellow catfish are slow.

O.H. Ivie Reservoir

Water stained; 79–86 degrees; 43.14′ low. Black bass are good on Yellow Magics early, later switching to Texas rigs, Senkos and crankbaits. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs fished shallow. Catfish are fair to good on live bait.

Lake Proctor

Water murky; 73–77 degrees; 9.14′ high. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits and crankbaits off points early and late. Striped bass are slow. White bass are good on live shad and jigging spoons. Crappie are good on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on cut bait and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live bait.
