NonaGiddensMay2015BRMC Volunteer Nona Giddens was honored as the May 2015 Volunteer of the Month during the June 2015 executive board meeting of the Brownwood Regional Medical Center Volunteers.  She has been a volunteer since January of 2007.  Nona volunteers at the information desk at BRMC.  She informed those who were present at the June 2015 executive board meeting that she chose volunteering at Brownwood Regional Medical Center because of the encouragement of her sister, June Winfrey, who was selected as the April 2015 BRMC Volunteer of the Month.  Nona stated that volunteering at BRMC allows her to give back to the medical facilities patients and staff that provided the loving caring her family experienced at BRMC in the past.  She also enjoys the fellowship shown to her by her fellow volunteers and the BRMC staff members.  Nona has over 600 hours of volunteer service at BRMC.

The Volunteer of the Month Award is awarded by the BRMC Volunteers each month during the year.  Recipients of the award receive recognition and lunch at the executive board meeting held in the month following the month for which they are selected.  Each BRMC Volunteer of the Month recipient is recognized with a framed Volunteer of the Month certificate, a ‘Volunteers, Brighten Our World!’ pin, and a ‘BRMC Volunteer of the Month’ service bar.

BRMC volunteering allows caring individuals to be helpful to others, to develop and grow personally, to gain a sense of achievement, to be creative, and to be part of a team.

The BRMC Volunteers are always excited to meet area individuals who are interested in becoming a volunteer. Opportunities for volunteering are available in eight service areas including the information desk, intensive care unit waiting, emergency room waiting, day surgery waiting, surgery waiting, the gift shop, the book cart, and the tray favors committee.

If you have an interest in volunteering 6 to 8 hours per month, BRMC Volunteering is for you. BRMC Volunteer applications may be obtained in the BRMC gift shop, at the front entrance information desk, online at http://www.brmc-cares.com or by calling the BRMC Volunteer office at 325-649-3399 or emailing the BRMC Volunteers at [email protected] and leaving a message. Those who have an interest in volunteering may also contact Andrea Lee, BRMC Marketing Coordinator, at 325-649-3392.
